Residents at Ashfield enjoyed a lovely morning of flower arranging as part of the home’s Chelsea Flower Show theme.
With a cuppa and a natter alongside the activity, residents spent time creating five beautiful floral displays for the dining room. The session was full of colour, fragrance and conversation, as everyone admired the vibrant shades of the flowers and enjoyed their lovely aromatic scents. Photographs show residents carefully arranging blooms in glass vases, with one image capturing a resident smiling as she pauses to smell her finished display.
As well as being creative, the activity prompted some lovely reminiscence. A few of the ladies shared memories of visits they had made to the Chelsea Flower Show, giving the morning an added personal touch. These shared stories helped spark conversation and brought people together through familiar experiences and happy memories.
The finished arrangements now take pride of place around the home, with photographs showing the completed vases brightening the dining room and other spaces. Activities like flower arranging can be wonderfully beneficial for wellbeing, offering sensory stimulation through colour and scent, while also encouraging concentration, creativity and social connection.
At Ashfield, it was a simple but very enjoyable way to spend time together, combining relaxed conversation with a shared sense of achievement and some truly lovely results.
